Recognizing Sri Lanka’s strategic geographic location as a dynamic trade hub, LAUGFS Terminals commenced operations in 2018 to support both local and international growth initiatives. The company operates the largest LPG import and export terminals in South Asia, providing comprehensive services in loading, holding, and discharging LPG cargo.
Strategically located within the Hambantota International Port on the East-West maritime trading route, the tax-free LPG Transshipment Terminal serves as a vital energy infrastructure within the Indian Ocean Rim. The terminal is equipped with two dedicated LPG handling jetties, 17 meters in depth, capable of accommodating Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs).
Spanning four hectares, the state-of-the-art facility features automated operations managed by a team of skilled professionals and security personnel, ensuring efficiency, safety, and reliability.
Operations are secured under a 25-year lease with an option for extension, and the construction was supervised and certified by Lloyds Register London, providing comprehensive insurance coverage for both terminal operations and cargo. The terminal currently offers a storage capacity of 30,000 MT, with expansion plans to 60,000 MT, including refrigerated storage capabilities. Cargo can be shipped to other ports or transported via land through bowsers, enhancing regional distribution capabilities.
